The awkward moment was caught on camera and quickly spread online
Nicki Minaj has found herself at the center of online backlash once again, with fans now noticing that her Instagram account appears to have been deleted.
The rapper was a surprise guest at a Turning Point USA event in Phoenix, Arizona, held on December 21, where she took the stage alongside Erika Kirk.
What followed was a moment that quickly drew criticism, after Minaj appeared to misspeak while making a point about conservative role models for young men.
During her comments, Minaj listed JD Vance among her examples and went on to use the word “assassin” in what sounded like a positive context.
While the word choice might not usually raise alarms, the moment became particularly uncomfortable given the personal context surrounding Erika Kirk.
Minaj said: "Dear young men, you have amazing role models, like our handsome dashing president. And you have amazing role models like the assassin, JD Vance, our vice president - and when I say that..."
As soon as the words left her mouth, Minaj paused and covered her mouth, clearly realizing the mistake she had just made.
Erika Kirk stepped in quickly to ease the tension, offering Minaj reassurance and suggesting that sometimes the only option is to laugh off an awkward moment.
Kirk said: "I love this woman, she is an amazing woman. She has a soul and a heart for the Lord, and words are words, but I know her heart and it doesn't even matter - and you say what you want to say because I know your heart - and I do not judge that."
Despite the attempt to smooth things over, social media users were quick to react, with some calling the moment “an absolutely massive fkup” and others labeling it “absurdity at its finest.”
Beyond the slip of the tongue, Minaj also faced criticism for publicly supporting Donald Trump and JD Vance.
One user summed up their frustration by writing: "Nicki Minaj calling Trump and JD Vance 'down to earth' and 'one of us' tells me everything I need to know about how far celebrity wealth can detach someone from reality."
Not long after the backlash gained traction, fans noticed that Minaj’s Instagram page was no longer accessible, leading many to believe she had deleted the account entirely.
There has been no confirmation that the disappearance of her account is directly linked to the controversy.
Some fans pointed out that Minaj has a history of deactivating her Instagram, including a previous break from the platform in October.
Others argued that even if the account is gone for good, it is unlikely to have any real impact on her career.
One fan commented: "Yesterday, She had more streams than cardi and Megan combined. I think she'll be ok losing some lefty fans."
Another fan took an even more blunt view of the situation, writing simply: "She don't care! She rich …"
