Calramon Mabalot is not your average 9-year-old. He likes to indulge in DIY projects and loves 3D printer which he uses with his brother to build cool tools. He recently made a mechanical hand using a 3D printer and gifted it to his teacher.

The deign of the prosthetic hand was Mabalot's own and he built a prosthetic hand complete with full articulated fingers. He had been learning how to operate a 3D printer all by himself and made a prosthetic hand to understand how it works.

The project is part of the E-Nabling the Future project and can be downloaded and printed by anyone online. Mabalot met a teacher, Nick, who needed a usable prosthetic so he took up the challenge of building and assembling the project along with fitting the arm for the teacher.

Mabalot has his own website and YouTube channel. Like we said, he is not just another 9 years old. While we adults spend our days in front of a computer screen by wasting time on Facebook, Mabalot is showing us all up with his verve, drive, and talent. He even posted a video on his Twitter account.

The prototyping process for the hand was done at the library, but after finding a better design to build upon, Mabalot worked with that, and then 3D printed the final version and assembled it at home. The finished product was then delivered to Nick.
