She had previously boasted about her enthusiasm for her job and worked for the NYPD.

Authorities have disclosed that Grace Rose Baez, who enlisted in the force in 2012, was allegedly trafficking huge quantities of heroin, fentanyl, and other drugs while on the job.

Baez, 37, and Cesar Martinez, 42, were detained for trying to sell drugs for a federal informant between October 9 and October 29 of this year.

They were charged with conspiracy to distribute drugs and distribution of drugs, according to US Attorney Damian Williams of the Southern District of New York.

Officials claim that on October 17, Baez gave the informant a sample of "top quality" fentanyl in a Mentos container.

She allegedly discussed selling 800 grams of fentanyl to be negotiated at a later time after the drug's purity was confirmed, along with a kilogram of "top quality" heroin for about $25,000.

Federal authorities have discovered that the disgraced cop, who was formerly employed as a desk clerk at an NYPD facility, was setting up meetings and negotiating prices to sell "kilogram quantities of narcotics" while on the job.

On October 19, Baez met with the criminal informant in Yonkers, New York City, to deliver packages containing suspected drugs.

The shipments included 400 grams of heroin, 640 grams of fentanyl labeled 640 Manzana, and an extra kilogram of heroin.

The former cop was arrested for her actions on this day, and Martinez was later placed under arrest after being found at the residence that the two of them shared.

Authorities claim that as Martinez was being arrested at the property, they observed a kilogram press machine, additional drugs, and a parcel of suspected drugs being tossed out of the flat. Martinez had also reportedly tried to throw more drugs outside.

Due to her drug negotiations, she may spend years in prison after her arrest and is currently suspended without pay.

In 2020, she boasted on Instagram about how much she loved her job, and the caption praised her career decision, which would come back to haunt her a few years later.

"I will never apologize for picking a career I love to do," she wrote. "There’s always a bad one or two in the bunch, but that’s not me…"

The alleged actions of Grace Rose Baez have raised questions about the screening and oversight of officers in the police force. It underscores the need for robust measures to identify and address potential misconduct, even within the ranks of those who have served for an extended period.
