Mom finds out stepchildren are bullying her daughter. Tells husband to move out or divorce when he doesn’t take any action.
OK With My Daughter Being Bullied? How About Divorce?
You know when you trigger a mama bear, you’re going to get the claws and that’s just what happened when OP found out her daughter was being bullied by her stepchildren.
OP had been married to her husband for five years. when the two got married, they decided to blend their family. Her husband had two teenage children whereas OP had her daughter.
OP felt like she was never accepted by the children because they still held hope of their parents getting together until OP came along.
OP tried to maintain a good relationship and the children seemed to come around when they saw how large OP's house was.
OP recently found out that her stepdaughter had been bullying her daughter for the past two years.
OP decided to go nuclear. She made the children pack their bags and had them sent to their mother's. This was after OP tried speaking to the stepdaughter who simply laughed and doubled down on the insults. OP further found out that the bullying had also made its way to school.
Her husband decided to take a stand and tell OP she couldn't kick out his children from their home. He promised to speak to his daughter but never actually took any action. OP's husband also has primary custody so she knew that the kids staying with their mother wasn't a long-term option. OP told her husband to move out.
In order to keep her daughter's bullies away from her, she proposed that they only meet on weeks that the children are with their mother.
OP's husband called this ridiculous and said that living separately wasn't much of a marriage. OP then said that she was fully open to considering the idea of divorce.
OP said she understood that telling him to not see his daughter was not an option.
OP also asked her daughter if she wished to change schools and she was receptive to the idea.
Commenters applauded OP for the swift action she took in safeguarding her daughter.
They said that she was doing right by her daughter and had OP not been so determined, her husband may not have done anything to begin with.
They also added that OP's daughter would remember just how OP had her back.
For others, divorce seemed like a great option when they heard about his inaction.
