Oregon Woman Who Bit Off Security Guard’s Earlobe Sentenced To Prison
After robbing a department store and biting the security guard who attempted to stop her, an Oregon woman was given a sentence of more than five years in prison.
According to a press release from the Washington County, Oregon District Attorney's Office, Ashlie Clark, 31, who admitted to second-degree assault and first-degree robbery in connection with a shoplifting incident in 2022 in which she bit a security guard, was given a sentence of 70 months in prison on Friday.
After stealing goods valued over $800 from a Nordstrom store in Tigard, Oregon, Clark entered a guilty plea.
Loss prevention officers questioned her about the threat as she left the shop without paying for the items.
When the officers attempted to reclaim the items, Clark started physically restraining them, disputing with them, and yelling started yelling at them.
According to the press statement, during the altercation, Clark bit an officer's ear, tearing off "at least a half inch" of the victim's earlobe.
At a neighboring hospital, efforts were made to reattach the female victim's earlobe, but they failed. Clark tried to deceive the police officers by providing a fake name and date of birth.
Unfortunately, the police officers discovered that Clark was lying and had two arrest warrants. Due to her actions, Clark will be transferred to the Oregon Department of Corrections.
The transfer is necessary to ensure that Clark serves her entire prison term. Additionally, Clark will be subjected to three years of post-prison supervision.
Clark's false identity and active warrants may have prolonged her sentence. The police officers may have had difficulty locating Clark's true identity without the arrest warrants.
Clark's attempts to mislead the authorities were unsuccessful. The consequences of Clark's actions will affect her future for years to come.
This incident highlights the importance of honesty and accountability when dealing with law enforcement.
"The Washington County District Attorney’s Office acknowledges the work of the Tigard Police Department, the Nordstrom loss prevention team, and Washington Square Mall security for their assistance in this investigation," the press release said.
