Last year in November there was widespread news that an asteroid is set to hit the Earth. Asteroid 2018 VP1, dubbed the "Election Day Asteroid" because it's scheduled to graze Earth on November 2nd, has a slim chance of entering Earth's atmosphere, and even if it does it will disintegrate before impact.

However, Oreo decided it did not want to take any risks and created a magnificent doomsday vault in Norway to protect its cookies and recipes for future generations in any worst-case scenario.

Well, this is what we call marketing next level but who does not like unique ideas that too the ones which concern our favorite cookies?

The amazing idea is inspired by the Svalbard Global Seed Vault that's meant to preserve the world's agricultural legacy against natural or human-caused disasters. Oreo has created its version nearby and though it is a bit smaller it serves the purpose.

Responding to its idea of the Global Oreo Vault project, the company claims it got its idea from a tweet from a fan on October 3rd asking if the asteroid strikes, "I wonder who will save the Oreos?"

The company then immediately got into action working with the same architects who designed the seed vault. However, this time there was a change in the time frame, and instead of two years which the architect originally had to design the seed vault this time he only had thirty days to ensure the safety of Oreos before the asteroid hits the earth.

"As an added precaution, the Oreo packs are wrapped in mylar, which can withstand temperatures from -80 degrees to 300 degrees Fahrenheit and is impervious to chemical reactions, moisture and air, keeping the cookies fresh and protected for years to come," Oreo said.

The video is dramatic and a little absurd to say but given the uncertain times we are living in at least we can say that our future generations will have safe access to our favorite cookies ( takes a sigh of relief.)
