With the passing of Ozzy Osbourne, fans around the world are not only looking back at his legendary music career but also reflecting on his very public struggles with drugs that often made headlines.
The rock world was hit hard yesterday (July 22) when it was confirmed that Ozzy, the iconic frontman of Black Sabbath, had died at the age of 76.
His family released a heartfelt message, stating: "It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning. He was with his family and surrounded by love."
Since the announcement, tributes have been pouring in from fans all over social media. Many are sharing their favorite memories and celebrating his wild and influential journey through rock music with Black Sabbath.
But alongside the musical tributes, people are also pointing out how surprising it is that Ozzy lived such a long life, especially considering the intense drug use he battled in his younger years.
Ozzy never held back when it came to talking about his past, especially his drug use. And in 2022, he shared a bizarre but unforgettable story about the moment he finally gave up LSD.
He opened up about the lifestyle he shared with his Black Sabbath bandmates, where drugs were very much a part of their daily routine during those early years.

Speaking to Classic Rock, Ozzy said: "We lived together in a house in Los Angeles, rehearsed there, did loads of drugs and made an album: simple. Those were good times."
"At that time in America, people were very fond of lacing your drinks with acid. I didn't care. I used to swallow handfuls of tabs at a time. The end of it came when we got back to England."
If you thought that was wild, it gets even stranger. Ozzy described one moment when he was out in a field and ended up having what he called a full-on conversation—with a horse.
He recalled the moment vividly and said: "I took 10 tabs of acid then went for a walk in a field. I ended up standing there talking to this horse for about an hour. In the end the horse turned round and told me to fuck off. That was it for me."
Several years earlier, in 2018, Ozzy opened up again about how he had embraced sobriety after decades of battling alcohol and drug addiction.
Speaking to the Orange County Register, he said: "I don't drink alcohol anymore…I don't smoke tobacco. I don't use drugs…I'm doing good right now."

"I now think, 'how did I think going into a bar and getting smashed and doing all that cocaine was fun?"
He didn’t hold back about just how far gone he felt he was in the past. Ozzy added: "I have come to think that if right now you had a gun, a bag of cocaine and a gallon of booze and you said 'Take your pick,' I'd pick up the gun. It's not worth it."
