27-year-old Alice Jones wanted to show herself that she is still attractive even when she is not actively saving lives.
To go to the Miss England final, Alice Jones has given up her paramedic duties of saving lives.
When Alice traveled to Ghana in June, she checked kids for malaria and helped at a walk-in clinic where she gave birth.
She raised money for underprivileged kids by doing a 42-kilometer charity trek between hospitals in the West Midlands.
While working full-time at West Midlands Ambulance Service, she traded her scrubs for dresses and bikinis.
Alice told The Sun: "It's a challenge completely different from my day job.
"Instead of scraping my hair back, putting on my uniform, and working a late shift, I'm taking a bit more care of myself and putting time into how I look and feel."
After winning Miss Black Country in August, NHS paramedic Alice of Walsall, West Midlands, is competing for the Miss England title.
The six-foot-tall doctor claims that the competition has given her more self-assurance.
The winner will compete on behalf of England for Miss World and receive a reward of £100,000.
