Many people are now concerned about the new TikTok ghost filter prank. While it is not suggested to scare children, some parents appear to enjoy scaring their children. The ghost filter prank cannot physically damage children, several experts expressed their concerns as this can have a mental and emotional impact on young ones.
Parents Warned Against Using The TikTok Ghost Filter Prank To Terrify Kids
Parents are using a new TikTok filter in a sinister way. Some parents are filming an unnerving figure of a ghost flying over their children's shoulders whereas the parent leaves them alone, confined in a room, and a weird chuckle erupts.
Viewers can watch the pranks of parents in action by searching the hashtag #Ghostfilter on the app, which causes some youngsters to shriek in response.
This type of prank is no longer permitted on the massive video platform. Lately, there have been several issues in which children have been exposed to potentially hazardous activities including extreme stunts along with other related trends.

Regardless of the fact that the youngsters involved were not physically harmed, the negative impacts on children's mental health are being debated. This worry for children's safety has grown so strong that Northern Irish Councillor Jason Barr has begun a campaign to have the filter removed.
The councilor told Belfast Live that he advocated for the eviction of the apparition in a TikTok video: “Some children have been left petrified by this filter and that’s why I’ve got in touch with the platform about getting it removed."

"Some people see this as funny but I can assure you it’s not funny when you have a child running out of a room screaming after seeing something like this. This morning I have written to TikTok in relation to the filter which contains a Ghost type figure which is being used to scare children. I find it really alarming that people would scare children in this way and leave them screaming in a locked room."

"This can have lasting effects on them. Please do not use this filter to scare your own children. It’s simply not normal and definitely is not funny in any way.”
In an announcement released by TikTok, the social media group has stated: “The safety and well-being of our community is our priority which is why we prohibit and remove content that promotes the abuse and bullying of minors.”

Furthermore, this raises the issue of accountability. In an app designated for users 13 and over, it appears that parents should be held accountable for misusing a humorous feature. It is to be seen how long this filter will be available, although even if the app decides to keep it, users will always be able to abuse features for malicious pranks.
