It seems that a lot of people are only now coming to the realization about Miley Cyrus' original name.
For those who might not have been aware, Miley wasn't always known by the name she carries today.
It turns out, quite a few fans and followers of the singer were in the dark about her decision to change her name during her teenage years.
Interestingly, Miley was not fond of her birth name at all, and she shared that she made the choice to legally change it when she was just 16 years old.
A segment from a 2008 interview has Miley Cyrus speaking with Entertainment Tonight, where she discusses the legal change of her name.
This conversation happened backstage at one of her concerts, and the interviewer took the opportunity to ask her what her legally changed name was.
The star of "Hannah Montana" responded:
"Miley. What I've always been called, yeah."
Following her answer, Miley made a gesture that resembled vomiting before unveiling her birth name was Destiny Hope Cyrus.
With a laugh, she declared: "Never again, it doesn't technically legally count!"
This revelation took many of Miley's fans by surprise, with quite a few expressing their astonishment upon discovering that the singer was originally named differently.
One viewer expressed their disbelief by commenting: "I am 21 years old and I am finally learning that Miley Cyrus's name isn't Miley Cyrus."
Another viewer chimed in, saying: "I never knew this."
A third added: "Why am I just finding this out."
A shocked fourth viewer wrote: "WHAT I NEVER KNEW HER FIRST NAME IS NOT MILEY".
And yet another simply reacted with: "BRO WHAT."
In the same clip, Cyrus shared that her middle name, Ray, was chosen to match her dad's name.
However, fast forward 16 years to Cyrus' recent appearance at the Grammys, and some fans are speculating about a potential strain in the relationship between the actress and her father, Billy Ray Cyrus.
After making history by winning her first Grammy, Miley took the moment not only to celebrate her own achievement but also to acknowledge the contributions of her peers and those who supported her journey.
She said: "This award is amazing."
"But I really hope that it doesn't change anything because my life was beautiful yesterday."
"Not everyone in the world will get a Grammy, but everyone in this world is spectacular."
"So please don't think that this is important, even though it's very important, right guys?"
During her acceptance speech, Miley made it a point to thank her mom and her sister but omitted any mention of her father, Billy Ray, which led to some pondering over why he wasn't acknowledged.
She humorously concluded: "I don't think I forgot anyone - but I might've forgotten underwear. Bye!"
Since then, the absence of a mention for her father in the speech has left people curious about the dynamics within the Cyrus family.
