People Are Mounting 3D Models Of Their Unborn Babies On Their Walls
Expectant parents can be an odd bunch. They're usually bundles of nerves as their due dates get closer and closer. While they're understandably nervous, they're usually pretty excited to meet their new additions.
This excitement is good, but it can sometimes lead them to do bizarre things -- things like getting decidedly creepy 3-D models made of their little ones.
#1 See what I mean? Just imagine trying to explain that to guests.
"People do think it's a little odd, but it's similar to creating casts of baby's feet or hands," Baby Boo owner Katie Kermode told The Mirror. "It's actually a really lovely keepsake to cherish."
#2 Despite the general creepiness of it, these models are surprisingly popular. They're also pretty accurate. See the resemblance here?
Baby Boo's service is designed to offer a more personal service than that offered by the National Health Service, which checks up that all is going as planned during a pregnancy.
#3 These 3-D ultrasound models are an invention of U.K. company Baby Boo Scan.
Baby Boo's ultrasound service is strictly for bonding purposes; technicians there cannot make medical diagnoses.
#4 While I can certainly see the appeal, I think there are better ways of showing some love for your expectant child. But then again, that's just my two cents.
However, 3D printouts of unborn children are also being used to help blind women visualize their unborn babies.
