The Ted TV series, a spin-off from Seth MacFarlane's wildly successful 2012 movie, is capturing the hearts of both new and long-time fans of his work, especially those who loved Family Guy.
People Are Saying New Ted Series Is As Good As Prime Family Guy
The series has been hailed as hilarious, much like Family Guy, which has undoubtedly left a lasting mark on comedy and television.
Seth MacFarlane, the creative force behind Family Guy, struck gold with the movie Ted, starring Mark Wahlberg.
The film, which revolves around Wahlberg's character John and his crude, bad influence of a teddy bear, was a massive hit, becoming one of the top-grossing films of its year.
The sequel, released in 2015, may not have been as critically acclaimed, but it showed that fans were still interested in Ted's antics.
Now, those fans are in for a treat with the Peacock Original Ted mini-series prequel.
The show, set in 1993, follows Ted after his fame has dwindled.
He's back living with his best friend John and his family.
While Ted might be a questionable influence on John, he's a loyal friend willing to do anything for those he cares about.
The series, which premiered on January 11, is already a hit with viewers.
Many claim it's on par with MacFarlane's best Family Guy episodes.
One viewer shared: "I have started watching the Ted series. And I gotta say its REALLY good. Like early Family Guy good."
Another commented: “Well, I just watched the entire first season of Ted. I have to say, I really enjoyed it. It gave me that same feeling I used to get when watching the early seasons of Family Guy."
A third person noted: "The Ted series. Everything you remember enjoying about Family Guy from your youth, without the excessive cutaways."
Even though some social media users have criticized its similarities to Family Guy, the show has quickly become a hit.
Within just three days, it became Peacock's most-watched original series.
As for a potential second season, MacFarlane hasn't closed the door on the idea but says there needs to be enough demand from fans.
Speaking to The Wrap, he said: "I think we felt after Ted 2 that maybe the appetite for Ted in that forum was not quite as ravenous as it was after the first movie."
"So I don’t know, there would have to be a reason to do it. There has to be an audience for something like this."
"You don’t want to just keep rehashing the same character if no one’s watching."
Showrunner Brad Walsh also expressed openness to continuing the series.
Fans can enjoy streaming Ted on Peacock now.
