It's well-established by now that everyone loves a good riddle. Like, were you able to solve the one about the four men in the boat? That one took me ages, but once it all finally clicked, it was so soul-satisfying. Some guy walks into a hardware store...
Ok, I'm following this so far.

Seems easy enough.

...Seventeen costs two dollars, and one hundred and seventeen costs three dollars.

What is he buying???
