Have you ever wondered why 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th have different letters after the numbers?
One woman did, and her revelation left quite a few people in shock.
Chloe turned to TikTok to question whether she had been "living under a rock," given that she had just realized something so apparent.
"Am I really stupid, or did everyone else know this?" she wondered aloud.
In her video, she explained her thought process:
"So you know like first, second, third, fourth, fifth, all of that?
"Did everybody else know that the two letters that come after the number, so first, second, third, are the last two letters of the actual word?
"So for example, first is 'ST', second is 'ND', third is 'RD'. I'm mind blown!"
She then posed a question to her followers: "Does anyone else not know this, or have I actually informed somebody today?"
She shared her astonishment, adding, "Because I have just figured it out and I'm nearly 30 years old!"
Her discovery was so profound to her that she titled her video: "HOW HAVE I JUST LEARNT THIS?"
The reaction in the comments section was immediate, with many expressing their own surprise.
"Never even thought about it but makes so much sense haha," one user commented.
Another revealed, "Seriously, I never knew this and I'm 53."
The revelations continued: "I was today years old learning this!! FML," and "I’m 34 and you’ve just taught me," were among the reactions.
Others echoed this sentiment, saying, "It’s true when they say you learn something new every day!" and "I'm 38 and you have just taught me something."
Even more people were just as surprised: "I'm 60 I had no idea," and "You just informed me and I'm 46 lol."
The comments ranged from people joking about their previous ignorance: "Nope I didn’t know this either lol xxx," to others describing themselves as "clueless."
One person, 60 years old, mentioned they had "just learned" this fact.
Chloe responded with joy, "Hahahaa love that I’ve helped people today."
However, there were a few who had known about this all along.
Some said, "We were taught in primary schools to help us spell them," while others couldn't hide their surprise that this was new information to some.
"Well what else could it have been??? it was pretty obvious to me!" one person claimed.
Another found it straightforward: "I thought it was self-explanatory lol."
Meanwhile, someone else was perplexed: "How does no one know this?"
