Donald Trump’s successful presidential campaign will probably motivate other political figures and celebrities to run for office in 2020. From Mark Cuban offering to be Hillary Clinton’s running mate to Kanye West declaring early, here are some people who have either stated they want to run against Trump or have a lot of people wishing they would.
#1 Hillary Clinton
She's tried twice, but can she do it in 2020? She has not confirmed or denied that she may make another run for it, but most people believe we haven't seen the last of the Clintons just yet. The only problem is, some say the reason she lost this year is because of her as a person rather than her policies, and she probably won't change much in four years. Others believe that by her getting the majority of the popular vote, she still has a chance.
#2 Ivanka Trump
Donald's daughter, Ivanka is neither a Democrat or Republican, falling in step with most people her age these days. They seem to be more policy driven than restricted to the uniformity of a party affiliation. Ever since the well spoken Ivanka kicked off her Daddy's campaign and introduced him at the national convention, people have been touting her name to follow her father, who has said he will only stay for four years.
#3 The Age Gap
Many people were impressed with the young Ivanka, and are saying that she could be the one to build a bridge between the old guard and the new. However, the only problem is that Ivanka has said straight up that she is not interested in pursuing the position. But, we've all heard that line before, and four years is a long way to go when she will be working side by side with the President himself.
#4 George Clooney
George has been very open about his liberal views and his support for the Democratic Party over the years. He has said that he plans to throw his hat into the ring to run for governor of California in 2018. Being the face for campaigns to overturn poverty and rebuilding war-torn areas around the world, his activism has put him in a prime spot to run for the top office, and he has the support of millions of adoring fans.
#5 Oprah Winfrey
The best known African American in the world, and the most loved, Oprah has been touted as a potential run in the Democratic Party for several years. America's first black multi-billionaire, the outspoken talk show hostess says she is not interested in the position, but she has been leaving signs pointing towards a run all over social media nad her magazine and television shows. She is said to be more influential than the actual president, and a logical move for her would be to make a run for it.
#6 Chris Rock
He is known as one of Americas most successful standup comedians but just two days after the recent presidential election Chris posted this picture to Twitter which was from his 2003 movie "Head Of State". He wrote in the post that he IS plannin a run for the big office in 2020. Nobody is certain if it was a joke or not but the comedian received thousands of responses from people urging him to do it for real, and they started a hashtag already, #Rock2020.
#7 Mark Zuckerberg
It's a big maybe, but it's possible. There have been literally hundreds of articles appearing recently that the young CEO and founder of Facebook may be planning a run for the presidency. He is only 32 years old and will be 36 in 2020, one year older than is legally permissible by law to run for the office.
#8 From Facebook To Washington
Mark has been working with charities to end world poverty, feed the hungry, and give the whole world free internet. He also has given away $1.6 billion of his own money to charities all over the world in just the last 8 years. Forbes is predicting that Zuckerberg could turn to politics by 2020 and over 90% of millennials will be of voting age by then.
#9 Michelle Obama
In the wake of the 2016 presidential election, the First Lady became the name on the top of a lot of Democrats list as potential office holders. Hillary Clinton was a former First Lady and has now tried to run for the office of President twice. But will Michelle follow in her footsteps?
#10 Laying The Groundwork
Democrats and republics took note of how well spoken the First Lady was, often being called one of the greatest speech givers of all time, something her husband Barack is also known for. Supporters are urging the First Lady to use her experience as an attorney and the inner workings of the White House for 8 years to give the idea some thought, though she says she is not interested in politics at all and is looking forward to relaxing out of the spotlight. However, experts say that her charity work and inspiring speeches are just her laying the groundwork for her potential bid for the office herself.
#11 Mark Cuban
The billionaire is a Liberal Democrat and has not been ashamed to go toe to toe with people who disagree with is political beliefs, including Donald trump. The two hold great animosity towards one another, and the entrepreneur and "Shark Tank" star was reportedly courted by anti-Donald Trump conservatives as an alternative candidate in 2016. He refused, of course, and pledged his allegiance to Hillary Clinton. However, he has made several comments since the election that he plans to take on the Donald and beat him at his own game. Sounds interesting!
#12 Kanye West
Back in late 2015 Kanye went on stage and announced emphatically that he was running for president in 2020. Always, strange, controversial, and inspiring, nobody expected his MTV Awards announcement to be his proclamation to run for office. He has since confirmed his intentions in a series of online posts saying "I don't have a view on politics, I just have a view on humanity. If there is anything I can do to somehow make a difference I'm going to try to do it." Nobody knows what his policies will be and he hasn't elaborated further, but there's still 4 years to go.
#13 Lindsay Lohan
Yes, that Lindsay Lohan. The sometimes in jail or rehab actress, who now lives in the UK, but has dual citizenship, says she was inspired by Kaye West's announcement and that she thinks she would make a good president. Highly unlikely to happen, Lohan has insisted via social media that she is sincere about running. She says she is inspired by President Obama and the Queen of England. Nobody is taking her seriously at the moment, and that may be because of her turbulent past, but here's the big catch...she won't be old enough to run for president in 2020. Mmmkay...
#14 Howard Stern
The loud mouth and outspoken radio shock jock ran for New York City Mayor and also ran in New York's gubernatorial race back in 1994. Though later he proclaimed it as a radio prank, he has some things to say when it comes to politics that have people listening. And he has millions of listeners! One of the main sources against Donald trump in the campaign was his recordings from his several appearances on the radio show over the years, where he talked about everything from cheating on spouses to hating Black people. Stern recently said that 'Trump's success proves anything is possible.'
#15 Bernie Sanders
Do you think that by 2020 we will be really ready to feel the bern? People say that if Bernie Sanders had actually won the nomination, he would have beaten Donald trump, hands down. That's not how it went down but his supporters have not disappeared. His fans and supporters believe that by 2020 he could have even more support and a major shot at taking down Donald Trump. One of the biggest problems, however, is his age. In 2020 he will be 79 years old, nine years older than Trump was when he won the presidency.
#16 Elizabeth Warren
Already a first term Senator and being touted as one of the party's best prospects, Elizabeth Warren went toe to toe with Donald trump every turn of the way. She was in support of Bernie Sanders during the primaries, but after Hillary won the nomination, she was all in for her and never let up on Trump. Warren's support is sometimes overstated (a poll supposedly showing her beating out Clinton among Democrats was widely criticized). But having stayed out of the fray this year, she's managed to maintain cordial relations with both wings of the Democratic Party, the centrists and progressives. Sources ay she is most likely to run for the presidency in 2020.
