The Saturday Night Live star revealed in January that he planned to remove all but two or three of his extensive tattoo collection
Pete Davidson has racked up more than a few headline-making achievements over the years. Along with a long list of famous exes, he was once known as one of Hollywood’s most heavily tattooed celebrities.
But despite previously having more than 200 tattoos, the actor and comedian has quietly stripped most of them away after revealing in January that he planned to remove nearly all of his body art.
A recent photo shared by Davidson’s girlfriend, Elsie Hewitt, gives a clear look at his nearly bare arms. That cleaner look came after a long and painful removal process that reportedly cost around $200,000.
The photo, shared on social media on Sunday, showed the former Saturday Night Live star gently holding their newborn daughter, Scottie, who was wrapped in a soft blanket.
Alongside the image, Elsie kept the caption short and emotional, writing: "MY BEST FRIENDS."
The couple, who are believed to have started dating in March, welcomed their first child together on December 12 and shared the news publicly not long after.
Elsie, a 29-year-old model, also revealed their daughter’s full name: Scottie Rose Hewitt Davidson. The name carries special meaning, as it honors Davidson’s late father, Scott, a firefighter who died during the September 11 attacks.
"My best work yet, I am absolutely overflowing with love and gratitude and disbelief," she wrote. Davidson later commented under the post with a simple, personal message: ‘wu tang forever.’
The image also highlighted just how much of Davidson’s once-famous tattoo collection has now faded or disappeared.
Back in January, Davidson explained that he planned to keep only two or three tattoos once the removal process was complete.
Speaking during an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, he said: "I've been burning them off. They burn off a layer of your skin, then it has to heal for six to eight weeks."
He also explained that the process is far from quick, requiring at least 12 sessions and strict rules around avoiding sunlight while the skin heals.
Even so, Davidson made it clear that removing the tattoos was not an easy choice.
"It's pretty terrible, so if anybody out there is watching and thinking about getting a tattoo, make sure you really want to get it," he said as he rolled up his sleeve to show the faded ink on his arm.
"It's pretty gone," he added, pointing out how much had already been removed.
At the time, Davidson also opened up about the deeper reason behind the decision, explaining: "I got sober, and I saw myself in the mirror, and I was like, 'Nah. Who that?' I was like, 'I got to change it up a little bit'."
Last July, he entered a wellness facility and had previously sought treatment for PTSD and borderline personality disorder in 2023.
When discussing his tattoos earlier this year, Davidson revealed that one of the few he planned to keep was a Hillary Clinton tattoo on his right leg, which he got in 2016 after she lost the presidential election.
After hearing that he was removing most of his tattoos, the former Secretary of State reached out to him directly.
"What was cute is when I got them removed, she hit me up, and she's like, 'You're not removing me, are you?'" Davidson recalled during an appearance on The Breakfast Club.
"I was like, 'Of course not, of course. Hillary stays'. She loves it."
