One of the break-out stars of Depp and Heard's high-profile legal trial - which concluded last Friday after weeks of headline-making courtroom action - is Depp's strong-willed lawyer Camille Vasquez.

The attorney became a fan favorite among Depp's supporters after she ruthlessly grilled Amber Heard on the witness stand.

And now that the trial is over, it's clear fans don't want this to be the last of Vazquez they see on their screens. People are so enamored with the lawyer that they even think she should try her hand at acting - and that she should replace Heard in her biggest role.

A petition to have Vazquez replace Heard as Queen Mera in the upcoming superhero sequel Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom has surfaced on Change.org.

"Although Amber is a 'credible' actor and has actually demonstrated it on many occasions, not just in films or 'perhaps' on the stand. If Camille is half the actor she is as a lawyer this will be an absolute blockbuster of a film," the petition argues.

This isn't the first time Depp's fans have campaigned for Heard to be cut from Aquaman amid the celebrity exes' defamation trial.

Over 4 million people have signed a petition (also on Change.org) to have her removed from the sequel.

"Amber Heard has been exposed as a domestic abuser by Johnny Depp," reads the petition, which was started by Jeanne Larson and addresses DC Entertainment and Courtney Simmons, the SVP for Publicity & Communications for DC Warner Bros.

Larson goes on to list the "many incidents of domestic abuse" that Depp has claimed, "he suffered at the hands of his (then) wife Amber Heard." Among these is an occasion when Depp says she severed his finger with a broken liquor bottle, and another when she allegedly punched him in the face.

"Men are victims of domestic abuse, just like women. This must be recognized, and action must be taken to prevent a known abuser from being celebrated within the entertainment industry," the petition continues, concluding: "Do the right thing. Remove Amber Heard from Aquaman 2."

Fan pressure has already had some effect on the upcoming movie. During the trial, Heard revealed that many of her scenes had been cut from the movie in which "they basically took a bunch out of my role."

Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom is scheduled for release on March 17, 2023.

Depp fans praise the attorney's skills in the courtroom, feeling she has done an incredible job and some are sharing a photoshopped image of Vasquez in the Mera's role.

Previously, fans had been rooting for other popular actresses to get the part. Emilia Clarke has come up a lot with fans as a good option for Mera given her proven chemistry with Momoa from their work together on Game of Thrones.

Meanwhile, Blake Lively has been suggested by many other fans. Others will have their own opinions on whether Heard should stay in the role or have it go to someone else, but, in any case, there does not seem to be any indication of Heard getting removed from the film.

In this roller-coaster of a trial, in which Depp sued ex-wife Heard for $50 million for defaming him in an op-ed she wrote in 2018, Vasquez has become somewhat of a celebrity. Depp has developed a friendly relationship with several of his attorneys, including Vasquez, and clips of Depp hugging or joking with Vasquez or co-counsel Benjamin Chew have gone viral several times over the last six weeks.

Meanwhile, Amber Heard is countersuing for $100 million - claiming she was only ever violent against Depp in self-defense or in defense of her younger sister, per NBC News, and for comments made by Adam Waldman, Depp's former lawyer.

The jury in the defamation trial opposing Johnny Depp and Amber Heard will resume deliberations on Tuesday after a three-day weekend.
