A pizza delivery driver gained viral attention when he expressed frustration and used profanity towards a woman who tipped him $5 on a $20 pizza order. The act of not tipping a delivery driver can lead to tense situations, as they may feel undervalued and respond with anger or mistreatment.
Pizza Delivery Guy Has Meltdown And Says ‘F**k You’ After Receiving A $25 Tip
In a profession where the livelihood of delivery drivers depends on tips, it is crucial to consider leaving a gratuity to ensure continued service. Failure to tip may result in a decline in drivers willing to deliver your orders promptly.
Delivery drivers have demonstrated how an order without a tip can remain unclaimed for hours, as individuals are reluctant to accept meager compensation for their valuable time and effort.
Nevertheless, there are instances where a customer does leave a tip, yet the delivery driver still becomes infuriated, believing it to be insufficient.
A recent incident involving a pizza delivery person went viral when a doorbell camera captured the moment he delivered a $20 pizza, only to express extreme dissatisfaction upon receiving a $5 tip.
The recorded footage shows the delivery person bringing the pizza to the house, pausing briefly as the woman inside manages her dog, and remarking, "I just wanna say it's a nice house for a $5 tip."
Clearly indicating his dissatisfaction with the tip amount, the delivery person expressed his belief that it fell short of expectations. As the woman responded with "you're welcome," the delivery person retorted with an offensive phrase, "f**k you."
With the caption, "how much should I be tipping for a $20 pie," the video quickly gained viral traction on the internet. Many individuals expressed the view that a $5 tip for this particular case was more than generous.
Determining the appropriate and considerate amount to tip can be challenging; however, a 25 percent tip is undeniably on the generous side of the spectrum.
One person said they'd have 'told him to shove it up his a**', while another joked 'but just the tip' and a third said that they would have 'told him to give it back if he was unhappy with it'.
Others said that '$5 on a $20 pizza seems generous' as someone else said they'd have tipped $2 as they're 'not running a charity' and another said this was why they don't get food delivered any more as they'd rather pick it up themselves.
Echoing the sentiment, a former delivery driver affirmed that receiving $5 for delivering a £20 pizza was a substantial and appreciable tip.
Many individuals expressed frustration regarding the numerous additional charges associated with food delivery services. They voiced a preference for establishments to pay their employees a livable wage instead of relying on customers to bridge the gap.
DoorDash has officially confirmed that the delivery driver, known as a "Dasher," is no longer employed by the company.
In a statement provided to UNILAD, a DoorDash spokesperson said: "Respectfully asking for a tip is acceptable but abusing or harassing someone is never acceptable."
"We’ve removed this Dasher from our platform and reached out to the customer."
"Our rules exist to help ensure everyone who uses our platform - Dashers, customers, merchants have a safe and enjoyable experience."
"We expect everyone to treat others with respect and we will enforce our rules fairly and consistently."
