The 50-year-old mother noticed that her kids were starting to worry about her, due her weight gain, and she feared her lifestyle was sending her 17-year-old daughter down a similar path. For the sake of her and her daughter's health, the two decided to embark on a challenge of eating healthy and exercising each day for the next 100 days.

The challenge was inspired by the popular weight loss website ‘GiveIt100,' which features videos uploaded by users working out every day for a 100 day period. ‘Support is definitely key for Tessa and me, as it is with a lot of other people going through their own weight-loss journeys,' Shaw told Women's Health Magazine.

‘I'm so glad me and my daughter are doing this thing together,' Cheryl said. ‘It's such a team effort, it's like, ‘Okay mom what are we going to do today?''

Through working as a team and holding themselves accountable by uploading progress videos online, Cheryl and Tessa were able to stick to a routine and stay motivated to reach their goal.

‘You must find an activity that you love so you stick with it and push yourself,' Cheryl offered as advice to others struggling with their weight. ‘Make a plan to help you reach your goals. If you fail to plan, then you plan to fail.'
