Couple Who Licked Tub Of Ice Cream Before Putting It Back In Supermarket Freezer Now Being Investigated By Police

Twitter users are outraged after a couple licked an ice cream container before putting it back in the freezer at the supermarket.

When one of their videos went viral this week, Tequan Hines and his partner Asia, both of Portsmouth, Virginia, incited fury.

The couple can be seen at the beginning of the clip, which has since been removed from their Instagram account, strolling down a supermarket's freezer section.

Asia is urged by Tequan to crack open a tub of soft whip ice cream and taste the top while he is sure no one is watching.

Tequan then requests Asia to hold it over her shoulder while he secretly records her on his phone so he can taste it.

'Let me taste it. Let me taste it,' he says in the background.

Asia looks farther down the aisle and exclaims, "Hurry up, hurry up!" out of concern that they could be discovered.

The woman then hurries to put the tub back in the freezer because the couple doesn't want to buy the ice cream.

Tequan and Asia are seen fleeing away at the end of the 19-second clip while unable to contain their laughter.

According to a representative for the Portsmouth Police Department in Virginia, numerous irate people recently alerted them to the existence of the video showing Tequan Hines and his girlfriend, Asia, taking a quart of Blue Bunny ice cream and licking it.

The representative adds, "Thus far no business has come forward as a victim in our jurisdiction," and says that police are looking into the footage to see which store the incident may have taken place at.

Hines and Asia are believed to reside in the Portsmouth region, according to the consensus on the internet and their social media profiles.

The video which Tequan initially posted before deleting it, went viral on social media, with many urging the two to be detained and charged for the disgusting conduct.

Tequan and Asia undoubtedly felt the heat online, as evidenced by the deletion of their original posting, even if it's still unknown whether or not they ultimately paid for the ice cream.

According to Virginia state law, a person can be charged with a Class 3 felony if they "adulterate or cause to be adulterated any food, drink, prescription or over-the-counter medicine, cosmetic, or other substance with the intent to kill or injure any individual who ingests, inhales, or uses such substance."

Additionally, it may result in a fine of up to $100,000 and a prison sentence of five to twenty years.

The couple's video was subsequently shared on Twitter, where it garnered over three million views and infuriated fans.

One replied: 'So when are they getting locked up?'

'20 years in jail,' another added: 'I'm so serious.'

'If I read a news article saying they'd been imprisoned for life, it still wouldn't satisfy me,' a third joked.

Meanwhile, a fourth said: 'Now I don't wanna eat the ice cream I got myself to enjoy with my cake. I'm throwing everything away.' 

A fifth horrified viewer said: 'What?! What is wrong with people? Why is this even a thing? This is disgusting.'
