The Royal Princess of Japan, Princess Mako, 25 has officially announced her engagement with Mr. Kei Komuro, also 25, in a press conference this week while making it clear that her decision to marry Komuro is going to make her lose her royal status officially and she is contented with her decision and plans to live a happy life with her future husband.

Princess Mako of Japan, who is the eldest daughter of the Japanese royal family has proved that everything is fair in love and war, as the Princess is nowadays getting ready to marry her boyfriend of five years, who is a commoner, which would ultimately mean that by marrying him Princess would have to give up on her royal status.
It seems like Princess Mako is willing to do anything for love. The Japanese royal was all smiles this week when she officially announced her engagement in a press conference to Kei Komuro, a law school graduate currently working at a law firm in Tokyo.

According to the Japanese law, all the female members of the royal family must renounce their throne if they marry a commoner. During her press conference, She told the reporters, "I was aware since my childhood that I'll leave a royal status once I marry. While I worked to help the emperor and fulfil duties as a royal family member as much as I can, I've been cherishing my own life."

Princess Mako's resignation from the royal status makes her the eighth member of the family to do so in order to marry a commoner, as her Aunt Sayako, formerly known as Princess Nori and the only daughter of the current emperor, also followed the similar journey back in 2005.

The couple first met in 2012 at Tokyo's International Christian University, where they both were the students and has been together since 2013, when Komoru proposed to Princess Mako. When asked about each other Komoru told the press for him Princess is like moon who has been quietly watching over him and he wants to build a relaxed and peaceful household with the her. While Princess Mako said, "I was first attracted to his bright smiles that seemed like the sun, it would be nice to have a warm and comfortable household with Mr. Komuro so that we can make a family full of smiles."

According to the reports, in June, the Japanese parliament has passed historic legislation, which allows the 83-year old Emperor to step down and pass the throne to his eldest son Crown Prince Naruhito and is expected to do so late next year.

Emperor Akihito has also officially approved the couple's engagement in a ceremony on Sunday, thus, starting a lengthy process before the wedding happens in 2018. The first step towards the marriage is an official engagement in a traditional manner, called as Nosai no gi. In this ceremony, Komuro will be presenting several gifts to the palace thus, declaring his love for the Princess officially.
