Priscilla Presley revealed why she never remarried after her divorce from Elvis and discussed their choice not to have more children. These insights coincide with the release of a new biopic exploring their relationship.
Priscilla Presley Explains Why She Never Remarried After Elvis
In an interview, Priscilla Presley discussed her relationship with Elvis Presley and the reason she chose not to be married again following their divorce.
The 78-year-old actor talked about how she thought the late rock musician would respond if she did remarry while he was still living during a Q&A session held on Friday, November 3, at the South Point Casino in Las Vegas.
During the event, she discussed why they didn't have another child after their daughter, Lisa Marie Presley, despite being married for six years from 1967 to 1973.
Regarding the prospect of remarriage while Elvis was still alive, Priscilla remarked, "I just don't think he could handle that."
Priscilla stated she truly didn't want to marry anyone else when discussing possible relationships following his passing in 1977.
“To be honest with you, I never wanted to marry after him. I never had any desire,” she said. “No one could ever match him.”
Elvis was worried that he wasn't spending enough time with their daughter, Priscilla added.
She continued by saying that this played a significant role in their choice to stop having children.
“Elvis felt he had a very busy schedule, and he did have a bit of guilt that he wasn't around that much when Lisa was younger,” she said.
“With his scheduling and his touring, he just felt he wasn't around enough to give a lot of attention to having another child.”
The release of a new biopic, Priscilla, which delves deeper into the romance between the two, has put Priscilla's life with Elvis in the public eye.
Priscilla mentioned in an interview with TalkTV's Piers Morgan last week (November 2) that the movie examines both the highs and lows of their life and relationship.
She also gave director Sofia Coppola credit for researching the lives of the couple.
“I mean [Coppola] and I, we talked about it, and living with Elvis Presley, people think, ‘Oh how wonderful, it's great, it's Elvis Presley,' but I went through the ups and downs with him in a very crucial part of his life.”
"His ups and downs, his struggles, his fears, so when you are living with someone so famous, and you have been through it with them, it's that part of privacy that is hard to give up, it's hard to share.”
"I don't want to give out too much because I want some of that myself, that's just for me."
The movie just premiered in theaters and takes a deep dive into the life of Elvis, played by Jacob Elordi from "Euphoria," and his relationship with Priscilla, portrayed by Cailee Spaeny.
It delves into how Elvis's immense fame started causing issues in their marriage.
In other news, it was disclosed last week that Priscilla's request to be buried alongside her ex-husband and daughter, Lisa Marie Presley, has been approved. Official documents, authorized by Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Lynn Scaduto and reported by People, confirm that she will be laid to rest in Graceland's Meditation Garden, currently owned by her granddaughter, Riley Keough.
