Ray J spoke candidly with fans after a recent hospital stay that left him questioning his future
Rapper Ray J has told fans that he believes he may not have much time left as he continues to battle serious health problems.
Earlier this month, the “One Wish” singer was rushed to a hospital in Las Vegas after experiencing severe heart pain. Doctors treated him for a serious case of pneumonia, and following the scare, Ray J told followers that he had “just almost died.” He thanked fans for their support and said he was “alive because of your prayers,” making it clear how close the situation felt to him.
The 45-year-old later shared another update with fans, explaining how serious his condition remains. He said: "My heart's only beating 25 percent, but as long as I stay focused and stay on the right path, everything will be all right."
"My health is not OK, so I thank everybody for supporting and praying for me through everything I've been in the hospital."
Ray J went on to thank those closest to him, saying their support helped him “survive this.” He also acknowledged that this is not his first health scare, as he has struggled with pneumonia in the past and knows how quickly things can turn serious.
In a separate video posted online, Ray J appeared more emotional and discouraged. He told the camera that “2027 is definitely a wrap for me,” adding, “that’s what they say.” A friend who was in the room strongly pushed back against that idea, telling him “fk the doctor,” clearly refusing to accept such a grim outlook.
Ray J admitted that he may have pushed himself too hard over the years, saying, “I shouldn’t have went this hard, bro.” Still, he stressed that no matter what happens with his health, his family will be taken care of financially.
He said: "My baby mama gonna be straight, my kids gonna be straight, if they wanna spend all the money, they can spend it. I did my part here."
"And damn, when it's all done, burn me, don't bury me."
Once again, his friend loudly objected, telling Ray J that he was going to live long enough to see his children grow up. He added that anyone claiming Ray J did not have long left could “go suck,” before Ray J stepped in and stopped him from continuing.
Ray J also spoke warmly about his parents and his sister Brandy, saying they have been helping him cover medical bills and attend doctor appointments “for the rest of the year.” He made it clear that their support has been critical during this period.
The rapper has remained in the public eye for many reasons over the years. PEOPLE previously reported that Ray J was arrested in November of last year following allegations that he pulled a gun on his ex-wife, Princess Love.
He is also widely known for being involved in a sex tape with Kim Kardashian that later became public and sparked major controversy. Kardashian later filed a lawsuit related to the tape.
Ray J has claimed that Kim Kardashian and her mother, Kris Jenner, wanted the tape to be released, stating in 2022 that it was not leaked without consent.
Kardashian and Jenner have denied those claims and are suing Ray J, alleging he showed a “reckless disregard for the truth.” Ray J has countersued, claiming they breached a previous settlement connected to the tape.
