She's hoping the revelation will be a 'positive message' to others.
Rebel Wilson is getting candid in her soon-to-be-released memoir, Rebel Rising, where she shares insights into various experiences from her life, including a personal milestone of losing her virginity at the age of 35.
The 44-year-old actress's book is set to hit the shelves on 2 April, and Wilson has been giving us a sneak peek into some of its contents.
One particular chapter throws light on her experiences with a colleague she found to be quite difficult, describing him as an 'a**hole'.
She later disclosed that she was referring to Sacha Baron Cohen.
However, Cohen's representatives have strongly refuted these claims, branding them as 'demonstrably false'.
A spokesperson for Baron Cohen clarified to The Hollywood Reporter:
"While we appreciate the importance of speaking out, these demonstrably false claims are directly contradicted by extensive detailed evidence, including contemporaneous documents, film footage, and eyewitness accounts from those present before, during and after the production of The Brothers Grimsby."
Another revelation from Rebel Rising is about Wilson's journey with her sexuality, including that she lost her virginity at 35.
She admitted that she used to dodge this topic with friends, feeling 'embarrassed'.
In a conversation with People, Wilson shared her intention behind this revelation, aiming to spread a 'positive message' to reassure the youth that "not everybody has to lose their virginity as a teenager".
"People can wait till they're ready or wait till they're a bit more mature," said the Pitch Perfect star.
"And I think that could be a positive message. You obviously don't have to wait until you're in your thirties like me, but you shouldn't feel pressure as a young person."
"There was one vague time, I think I told my best friend, 'Oh, yeah, I just did it to just get it over with when I was like 23,' just to really avoid the questions."
"Normally I would just leave the room when the conversation was happening, and then the people that said, 'Oh, at 24, it's so late.'"
"And then I'm sitting here thinking, 'Oh my God, my number's 35. What the hell? I'm going to look like the biggest loser.'"
Wilson also mused that if she had been born a bit later, her exploration of her sexuality might have taken a 'very different' path.
"It's absolutely incredible, if I had been born 20 years later, I probably would've explored my sexuality more. I just knew I was attracted to men, and that was the normal thing."
"And so when I started opening myself up probably more after my father's death and realizing, oh, even though I'd seen marriage as a terrible thing and waste of time, I started opening myself up to that."
"And then only years later, meeting women and having feelings for a woman, and that, I just think it's a sign of where society kind of was."
This openness led her to recognize her feelings towards women as well.
Currently engaged to fashion designer Ramona Agruma, Wilson entered a new chapter in her life in 2022, welcoming her first child, Royce Lillian, through surrogacy.
Rebel Rising is all set for its release on 2 April, promising to offer more such personal insights from Wilson's life.
