The image was in fact shared by the manager who did not think it untoward to, a. share the receipt and b. to first nip this racist behaviour in the bud,

One other employee however called this behaviour out, telling their boss, “If you wouldn’t want customers to see it you probably shouldn’t do it,”

The manager, however, still saw nothing wrong with their behaviour, saying, “Oh get a grip…It is just a joke.”

The employee however continued to point out the racism and the position of power that the manager was in. “But you’re the manager. It’s your job to call out behaviour like that. It’s unprofessional and inappropriate.”

This post went viral as the wave of hate crime against Asians is on the rise in the USA. After mass shooting and violent incidents of attacks on the elderly, this post seemed tone-deaf at best and racist at its worst.

The manager then posted an apology for their behaviour,

“I personally wish to apologise for the offence and hurt caused. I’ve been a business owner in the area for more than six years, personally and professionally invested in diversity. I’m deeply disappointed and embarrassed at my actions as they go against everything I pride myself on. Internally, my team and I will do better to ensure we uphold the diversity and inclusivity that is at our core.”

People, however were not having it, saying that the manager was only apologetic because they got caught.
