When you're on top of the world haters will try to bring you down. This was true recently for Rihanna when a so-called fan photoshopped images of the Bajan queen and tried to claim that she would look better if she were white.

The post immediately caused a firestorm online as people from all over came out in support of RiRi and condemning the poster. The post was flooded with angry comments from pissed off users asking for the post to be removed.

One pissed off user wrote: "Are you serious? She’s gorgeous in her own skin color?" and another piped in saying: "WHAT KIND OF NONSENSE IS THIS?". The tweet caused so much backlash for its racist undertones that it would be understandable if the queen herself would have gotten involved. You have to admit, it's pretty fucked up to even suggest that black person, especially someone as successful as Rihanna, could be even better if they were white.

Rihanna hasn't been the only black star that Twitter users have attempted to white wash. Even Beyoncé, who you could argue is possibly the most successful female entertainer in the world, was targeted by the hateful photoshop.

Twitter wasn't able to contain all the anger provoked by these images. Once the staff at BET got wind of the images they provided this message:

"It has a really dark message behind it. These are two of the most gorgeous, talented, successful, respected, well-known women on the planet. But even they are not immune to people’s projections of Western beauty 'ideals.'

The people altering these images send a horrific message: no matter how amazing, successful, or beautiful Black women may be, society would prefer them to be white. This is an impossible standard and exhausting burden."

Instead of lowering herself to commenting on the controversy, Rihanna took the high road and simply blocked the creator of the post. That's how Queens deal with peasants.

Rihanna was involved in a whitewash controversy once before. This one happened in 2011 when she showed up on the cover of Vogue wearing a blonde wig with super pale skin. The cover was so controversial that the magazine was forced to release a statement that blamed the lighting during the shoot for the paleness of her skin.

This response pissed off professional photographers with one saying: "If it was really that uncontrollable every white star would be a ghost in their beach [pictures]."

I cannot fathom why anyone would possibly think it's okay to whitewash anyone, let alone Rihanna or Beyoncé but this is the internet and people think that since they are hiding behind a computer screen they can say and do whatever they want. Hopefully, these losers learn their lesson and stop doing things like this but I won't hold my breath.
