If someone is spending a huge £5 million for a performance at a big wedding celebration, then I expect it to be amazing.

I want to see dancers, maybe some fire, or some exciting stunts - and why not include half of Cirque du Soleil as well?

Or just have Rihanna perform, that would be fair.

Anant Ambani, the son of India's richest man Mukesh Ambani, is getting married to his girlfriend Radhika Merchant, who he's been with for a long time.

So, of course, the family is hosting a three-day party this weekend to celebrate.

This pre-wedding event has more than 1,000 guests invited, including prominent figures such as Bill Gates, Mark Zuckerberg, and Ivanka Trump.

Starting yesterday (March 1st), according to MailOnline, the family reportedly spent $6.3 million for a special performance by Rihanna.

However, as videos of her performance in India circulate on social media, some fans have criticized her for putting in minimal effort.

One fan posted a video of the singer performing her hit song from 2011 with Calvin Harris, 'We Found Love'.

Fans joked in the replies: “She got that makeup coin. She doin this for change lol. Charity if you will.”

And another put: “Rent was due. She didn’t care."

Others decided Rihanna ‘does not like performing’ and ‘lacks energy’.

One even put: “Pls she don’t even remember what performing is like.

She forgot she was a singer.”

While another said: “Like did she even want to be there.”

However, some of her fans were eager to defend Rihanna, after one asked: “Why are y’all fuming in the comment section?”

Rihanna reportedly had a 19-song set-list for the wedding performance, including hits like ‘Rude Boy’, ‘Diamonds’, ‘Where Have You Been’ and ‘Umbrella’.

While speaking to the very VIP audience in India, the star said:

”Thank you for having me here. May God bless your union. I wish you all the best. Congratulations.“

Fans are aware that Rihanna rarely does live performances these days, hardly at all.

The singer's last major gig was at the Super Bowl halftime show last year, where she surprised everyone by revealing her pregnancy with her second child.

Her Super Bowl performance in 2023 marked Rihanna's first live televised performance since the Grammys in 2018.

She hasn't gone on a concert tour since 2016.

Nevertheless, it seems that for $6.3 million and for the Ambani family, Rihanna was willing to showcase her talents once again.
