Robert De Niro recently shared his thoughts about Jennifer Lawrence's wedding festivities, especially recalling the moment when the celebrated actress boldly approached him and said, 'go home'.
Jennifer Lawrence, known for her role in The Hunger Games, tied the knot with Cooke Maroney at a grand mansion located in Newport, Rhode Island, back in 2019.
The couple had met the previous year through someone they both knew.
Planning a wedding can often be a drawn-out affair, but Lawrence and Maroney found themselves with just a few months to organize their special day.
This tight timeline inevitably led to a considerable amount of stress for the couple, who were looking forward to celebrating their union.
During a conversation with E! News at the Golden Globes, Jennifer Lawrence, who is 33 years old, openly shared that she had a less than ideal experience in the lead-up to her wedding.
She recounted a memorable incident where she felt compelled to send a well-known guest away from her pre-wedding rehearsal dinner.
Jennifer explained, "It's so stressful. You're not having fun. You're just like, 'Is that person having fun?'"
"I'll never forget - I was freaking out about the guests being cold, and all of my friends were lying they're like, 'Nobody's cold, nobody's cold, everything's fine, everything's fine.'"
The guest list for the wedding included family members and a host of celebrities like Adele, Amy Schumer, Emma Stone, and Kris Jenner.
Among the attendees was Robert De Niro, although his stay was short-lived.
Jennifer went on to say, "I looked over and I saw Bob, who doesn't know anybody and he's kind of wandering around, and I immediately was like,"
"'No, this isn't what he wants to be doing. I don't want him here'. So I went over and whispered, I was like, 'Go home' and he was nice -"
"He like talked to my parents and was polite - but I was like, 'Go.'"
That must have stung a little.
Jennifer admitted that asking De Niro to leave actually made her feel relieved, "That just genuinely made me feel better."
Fortunately, it appears that there are no lingering bad feelings between Jennifer Lawrence and Robert De Niro.
De Niro looks back on that evening with fondness.
In an interview with People, he clarified that he didn't feel out of place at all, commenting:
"I wasn't... It was fine. I mean, I only came for that part of it anyway. It was nice! It wasn't that long – maybe I stayed an hour, if that."
De Niro and Lawrence have shared the screen in several films, starting with Silver Linings Playbook in 2012, followed by collaborations in American Hustle in 2013 and Joy in 2015, showcasing their dynamic working relationship.
