Ryan Reynolds Criticized For Letting Daughter Say Shocking Line In Deadpool & Wolverine
Ryan Reynolds is facing heavy backlash after fans of Deadpool & Wolverine found out that his young daughter voiced an explicit line in the movie.
Viewers were stunned when Reynolds openly admitted that Inez, who was just seven years old at the time, said a line many felt was too inappropriate for a child to say.
While going over the scene in the film’s commentary track with director Shawn Levy, Reynolds revealed that Inez had a minor part playing Kidpool. She delivered the surprising line: "Hey, when I want your opinion I'll take Wolverine's d**k out of your mouth."
As they watched the clip again, Reynolds confessed: "Guiltily, that is my daughter Inez."
"I'm so sorry we have to admit that," added director Shawn Levy, while Ryan continued by saying: "And I am father of the year over here for allowing her to say such language, which to her credit she really didn't want to say."
He also shared: "And then [she] came back later and said 'I want to say it now' when I started looking at other people to play."
According to Shawn, they had her record a huge number of takes of that same line — possibly even hundreds. He said: "Yeah but Ryan, to our discredit, we made Nezzy do, I am not s*****g you, 70 to 500 versions of that line."
Ryan responded by joking: "Yeah, I'm going to pay for that later,"
But not everyone found the situation funny. The moment sparked backlash online, and people quickly gathered in a Reddit thread to express their concern over what Reynolds shared.
One person shared their thoughts, saying: "There's no reason she needed to deliver that line herself. It's a character with a mask and no visible mouth, it could easily have been dubbed over."
Another chimed in with: "She's the same age as my kid. I couldn't imagine ANYTHING that would 1. get me to do this to my kid (or any kid) or 2. would be okay with my husband having done it."
And someone else added their voice to the discussion, saying: "The, '…which, to her credit, she really didn't want to say…' is enough for me. I don't care what the 'intent' was behind the line - it is overtly sexual and no kid has any business saying it, let alone in a movie made by their parent."
Yet another person expressed strong feelings about the matter and said: "Wow. This is so disgusting to me that I will truly think of it every time I see him now."
And a fifth person joined the conversation, saying: "If it was just swearing, that's one thing but an outright sexual reference? Thats gross and unnecessary. You could've gotten an adult to sound like a child to deliver this line,"
