The amount one table paid at Salt Bae's restaurant in Abu Dhabi has utterly shocked people.

It goes without saying that dining at one of the establishments owned by an influential restaurateur will need you to dig very far into your wallet.

To give you an idea of what's on the menu, they have a steak coated in gold leaf.

Nusret Gökçe, also known as Salt Bae, uploaded a picture of a bill with a lot of numbers at the bottom.

The sum of the food and drink orders placed by the diners at the Nusr-Et Steakhouse Abu Dhabi during their visit was 615,065 United Arab Emirates Dirhams.

That enormous amount converts to around £141,190 (AUD $250,500; USD 167,500).

That dinner bill really is a hefty one.

That appears to be about $1,190 per person per night when divided among the 14 people seated at the table.

But if you read the bill carefully, you'll discover that the service price isn't included.

You can bet that everyone had to scramble to find a little extra money to pay for a tip with a bill that large.

If you read the account carefully, you'll see that there were a few orders that stood out and caused the total cost to skyrocket.

Five bottles of Pétrus wine, totaling 325,000 United Arab Emirates Dirhams (£74,570, AUD132,330, USD88,495), ended up covering half of the tab.

It cost 200,000 United Arab Emirates Dirhams (£45,901, AUD$81,400, USD$54,400) for two 2009 Louis XIII Pétrus wine bottles.

Therefore, these orders by themselves were able to significantly increase the bill.

The remainder of the cost appears to be your typical food selections, enough to feed a little over a dozen people.

However, it appears that Salt Bae's followers are unimpressed after he posted the bill to Instagram.

One user said: "I really don't think this is a very intelligent way to showcase this man's restaurant, prices, and lifestyle. [However] this type of post honestly just makes the massive majority of people around the world disturbed and unattracted to visiting any of the restaurants that may be in their city or in a destination they are visiting."

Another added: "Yea ok bro lol No matter how much money you have those prices are ridiculous."

A third wrote: "I'd rather buy an apartment with this much money."

It's safe to say that while some individuals find this type of fancy dining to be impressive, others most definitely do not.
