#1 Patch and Weasel merged into the same guy.

In the Deadpool comic, Patch is a bartender who hands out assignments to mercenaries and Weasel is the wisecracking buddy of Deadpool. In the movie the two characters were merged together due to budget. Writer Paul Wernick stated: "Weasel basically assumed Patch's behind the bar job. A lot of it had to do with consolidating and budget and making sure that we focused on fewer characters and fewer scenes."

#2 Dr. Killebrew was supposed to have a big reveal at the end.

In the film Ajax AKA ‘Francis' AKA "What's my name?" was the only bad guy. In the comics he was working for Dr. Killebrew and this was also supposed to be the big reveal at the end of the movie but due to budget concerns and filmmakers attempts to streamline the movie, Killebrew was left out.

#3 Garrison Kane was left out because of his robot arms.

Kane was supposed to be a big part of the movie but the problem was that his robot arms didn't manage to make the final round of budget cuts director Tim Miller pointed out: "He's got these bionic arms that change shape; he would have been a visual effect for a large part of the movie. And as it turned out, a visual effect too far".

#4 Miller wasn’t able to get his superhero throwdown in the third act.

Miller's vision for the final fight involved a bunch more villains and heroes dooking it out. Apparently Kane, Sluggo and Wire's roles were condensed into one character Angel Dust.

#5 Even a minor character like Cannonball was hard to get.

Proving just how hard it was to cram any other Marvel characters into the film, Cannonball (a minor Marvel character) was supposed to be the partner for Colossus, but even securing two fringe X-Men players proved to be a bridge too far. Ryan Reynolds stated that "The studio would just say, ‘too expensive, too expensive, too expensive' to everyone. So finally we were like well, "What about Negasonic Teenage Warhead" and they said, "Negasonic, what?".

#6 There would have been a lot more action.

No, not that kind of action. Just before filming started, Deadpool lost $7 million from its production budget, so nine pages of action had to be cut out of the script. Writer Rhett Reese explained what was left on the cutting room floor: "There was a reduction of action. We had a motorcycle chase between Deadpool and Ajax on the freeway that we took out. We had a big, big gun fight in the third act that we took out and we basically had Deadpool forget his guns as a means of getting around it. So there were just reductions".

#7 Even small X-Men cameos were out of the question.

Taskmaster had no special powers except for being able to replicate the abilities of other mutants (like Rogue), so this would have been perfect for the movie since the character wouldn't need any special effects. The problem was that Marvel had the rights, so getting him would have cost too much. They also tried to include a Hugh Jackman cameo but that was too hard as well, instead Deadpool just ended up wearing a Hugh Jackman mask.

#8 Bob the Hydra agent never got his big moment in the sun.

This whole interstudio warfare over the rights to characters can get pretty confusing, especially when it involves little old Bob, who just wanted his moment in the sun. The Hydra rights are owned by Disney and Marvel, so the incompetent Hydra agent (and sometimes Deadpool's sidekick) Bob had to be sidelined. Deadpool did include a guy named Bob in the third act of the film, but the filmmakers were careful to distance themselves from any association to Hydra.
