It turns out, though, that the actor was paid an insignificant amount for the movie role.

During an episode of The Rich Eisen Show called "Celebrity True or False," the 47-year-old celebrity talked candidly about his salary for the first movie.

Scott disclosed that the money he received for his Stifler debut was only $8,000.

"I think [that's right], yeah because I remember afterwards I bought a used Thunderbird, for like $5,000, maybe $6,000," he said, before admitting: "I don't know what happened to the other two grand."

Although he acknowledged that the salary was 'a lot of money at the time' for him, he was clear that the benefits didn't last.

Scott continued by saying that the money ran out rather quickly because, in order to make ends meet while waiting for the release of the 1999 comedy classic, he took a job as a "churro guy" at the Los Angeles Zoo.

He added: "Maybe it was even less than $8,000."

After earning an incredible $235.5 million globally, American Pie went on to become the blockbuster smash hit that we are all familiar with.

The franchise went on to include a variety of spin-offs, such as American Pie 2, American Wedding, and American Reunion.

Speaking candidly on Steve Stifler's potential future on Michael Rosenbaum's YouTube program Inside of You, Scott revealed his thoughts.

"You know what? I love that character," he began.

Scott clarified that he thought the previous movie, which came out in 2012, was a "great bookend" to the character.

"I didn't think it'd be fun to play the character again," he continued.

But Scott appeared to have a change of heart, saying that 'as time went on' and 'as the world has changed', he 'thought that seeing that character today could be really interesting'.
