Sharon Stone gained fame for her role in the 1992 film Basic Instinct, particularly for the notorious interrogation scene.

Over her extensive career in the industry, Stone has experienced firsthand the challenges of discerning trustworthy co-stars from those she cannot.

In Basic Instinct, she portrays Catherine, a crime novelist whose book mirrors the actual murder of her rock star boyfriend.

The flirtatious chemistry between Catherine and Detective Nick Curran, played by Michael Douglas, adds excitement to an otherwise serious movie.

Since then, Stone has starred in several big roles, including the popular film Casino directed by Martin Scorsese.

Casino has left a strong impression on many people, especially men, and has helped Stone build a loyal fan base.

During an interview with Variety last year following her Saturday Night Live appearance alongside Sam Smith, she said:

"I’ve worked with some of the biggest stars in the business, who will literally talk through my close-up, telling me what they think I should do. They’re so misogynistic."

Stone clarified that it wasn't Robert De Niro or Joe Pesci, her co-stars from Casino, whom she was referring to.

"That is not those guys," she explained.

"But I have worked with some really big stars who will literally talk out loud through my close-up, telling me what to do."

"They just will not listen to me, and will not allow me to affect their performance with my performance. That’s not great acting."

"I mean, I get that you’re great and everybody thinks you’re wonderful."

"But listening, being present for those fractured moments, is really the human experience."

Stone continued: "I am not the most popular actor in town, because people don’t want to hear my, as they say, f**king opinions...

"Maybe because of my devotion, maybe because I’m just kind of a weirdo."

"But I’m just in it to be present."

Stone has also shared that she intentionally kept her distance from Michael Douglas during the filming of Basic Instinct.

She believed maintaining a level of discomfort off-screen would enhance the tension between their characters on-screen.

She said: "I had met him on two or three occasions in social situations before I tested with him for this movie."

"I really felt that he and I could have a certain strange, dynamic energy together."

"I was never comfortable around him, and I don’t think he was comfortable around me."

"It was a primal thing for me. It was all about watching him, observing his movements, provoking him."

That's why their on-screen energy was powerful, and the tension between them worked really well in the movie.
