#1 This is Ben Kemp and his girlfriend Jadine Mold. The two have known each other for more than 7 years, after meeting at a mutual friends wedding. They have only been dating for about a year however.

#2 Last week, a bushfire devastated the community where Ben’s family lives. It destroyed much of their land. Unfortunately for Ben, it also destroyed about a 1,000 bales of hay that we was planning to use to spell out “Will you marry me?” in a field his family owns.

#3 The fire threw Ben’s families life and the entire community into chaos. He had been planning this proposal for weeks though, and he wasn’t about to let the fire stop him.

#4 Fortunately for Ben, the fire spared enough bales of hay that he had enough to write out his question with them in the middle of a field. Jadine had absolutely no idea this was going to happen. Ben had told her they were going up in the helicopter to survey the damage the fire had done to the property.

#5 Ben wasn’t brave enough to bring the ring on the plane, so he kept it down on the ground in a safe spot.

#6 Jadine said she never expected what was about to happen. “Once I realised it was real, there were a lot of tears,” she said.

#7 After she spotted the words on the ground, the pilot landed near where Ben had the ring stashed. He then got down on one knee and she immediately said yes!

Even the in the face of a terrible loss (about $100,000 worth of hay), Ben was not going to let this special day be ruined. He spent hours hauling the bales of hay into place with his tractor. You can be sure that this will be a moment that Jadine and Ben will never forget.
