Stedman Graham told The Los Angeles Times: It’s up to the people. She would absolutely do it.
She Would 'Absolutely' Run For President Says Oprah’s Partner Stedman Graham
Oprah Winfrey for president was something of a running theme throughout the Golden Globes on Sunday, beginning with Seth Meyers’ opening monologue.
He jokingly forbade Winfrey from considering the presidency.
But the trend picked up steam as the night unfolded, particularly after Winfrey’s impassioned acceptance speech for the Cecil B. DeMille Award.
Friends have been urging her to run for office for months, according to the news station. A friend emphasized Monday to CNN that "Winfrey has not made up her mind about running."
Some of her friends and even her long-term partner Stedman Graham have thrown their support behind Winfrey.
"It's up to the people," Winfrey’s longtime partner, Stedman Graham, told The Times. "She would absolutely do it."
She told CBS in October:
"There will be no running for the office of any kind for me," echoing a similar sentiment she shared with the Hollywood Reporter in June: "I will never run for public office. That’s a pretty definitive thing."
Her bid for President was even backed by NBC’s official Twitter account.
It declared Oprah to be 'our future president.'
People are very serious about wanting The Color Purple actress to take over the White House.
Seth Meyers: "In 2011, I told some jokes about our current president at the WHCD... I just want to say: Oprah, you will never be president. You do not have what it takes. And Hanks. Where's Hanks? You will never be vice president."
