Weddings are meant to be a day of fun and joy for the bride and groom. This one however went a little awry after the bride's sister refused to abide by her rules and decided to orchestrate an entire 'kidnapping' against her wishes.

OP shared this story on Reddit where her mother attended a wedding where the entire awkward situation took place.

'Aliisa' and 'Peter', the bride and groom were finally getting married after a decade.

The two decided to go for a more understated affair which the rest of the family was apparently not entirely on board with.

The families however kept mum since the bride and groom were paying for the entire affair by themselves.

The bride's sister 'Hannah; however had other ideas. She wanted the whole shebang, wedding games included. her main point of contention was the 'Bride Kidnapping'.

For context, a 'Bride Kidnapping' is exactly what it says on the tin. The groomsmen kidnap the bride and the groom has to get her back.

The ransom could be something as silly as writing a poem or other more awkward activities.

The couple refused and Hannah acquiesced...or so they thought.

But there wouldn't have been a post if all had gone according to plan.

The groomsmen ambushed the bride at the reception and carried her outside. Hannah who was the mastermind behind the entire situation, cheered them on.

Peter, the groom simply looked her in the eye and refused to play along. In fact, he simply poured himself a coffee and drank it in silence. Meanwhile, the bride kept asking to be put down.

Things went awkward super fast. After a minute or two, the groomsmen returned alone looking embarrassed.

Aliisa had apparently been so furious, she yelled at them and then left her own wedding reception.

Once the groom heard the bride had left, he thanked everyone for coming, cut the reception short, and left to join his new bride.

The guests were puzzled as to what to do when the groom's mother decided to berate Hannah. The bride's mother also joined in as the other guests started leaving.

OP's dad apparently wanted to stay and watch the entire thing go down but her mother forced him to leave.

Not only did the bride refuse to see her sister from then on, but she also refused to attend events where Hannah would be.

It seemed the relationship was on the mend when the bride was ultimately asked to be in Hannah's wedding a few years later.

Turned out, she was just waiting for her own mic drop moment. In the speech she gave at Hannah's wedding, she let slip a few snide remarks and wondered when the kidnapping would be.

OP surmised the two never reconciled.

Reddit

Commenters applauded the bride and the groom for handling the situation so well. One however questioned how the bride simply left her reception to which OP clarified that she simply walked to her apartment which was a few blocks away.

Others wondered what Hannah thought the outcome would be. Clearly a lack of thinking on her part.
