Sofia Vergara Reveals The Real Reason For Divorce From Joe Manganiello

In a conversation with Anna Rumer from PopCulture.com, Vergara revealed the main issue leading to their separation. 

"My marriage broke up because my husband was younger; he wanted to have kids and I didn’t want to be an old mom," she explained to Rumer. 

"I feel it’s not fair to the baby. I respect whoever does it, but that’s not for me anymore."

Although Manganiello is only four years younger than the 51-year-old Vergara, the difference in their life stages was significant. 

Vergara, who had her son at the age of 19 and is now 32, feels she's past the stage of motherhood. 

She's gearing up for the role of a grandmother instead.

"I had a son at 19, who is now 32, and I’m ready to be a grandmother, not a mother."

"So, if love comes along, he has to come with [his own] children."

Acknowledging the natural progression of life, she added, "I’m almost in menopause; it’s the natural way of things."

"When my son becomes a dad, let him bring the baby to me for a while, and then I’ll give it back to him and go on with my life; that’s what I have to do."

Being constantly under public scrutiny, Vergara knew that news of her divorce would attract significant attention. 

"You’re always in the public eye and people are watching your every move. For that reason, I knew it was gonna happen."

"You can’t hide those things," she said about the inevitability of the public finding out about her divorce.

However, she expressed relief and gratitude towards how the media handled the news of her divorce.

"I think, you know, I have to say the press was very respectful and very nice. It wasn’t bad."

"And I thought that they were gonna invent more things, and you know how it usually is…"

"I was surprised and, you know, they, they kind of just said what it was and, and that was it," Vergara reflected on the media coverage of her divorce.

Overall, Vergara seems to be moving forward with her life, focusing on what lies ahead, including the potential joy of becoming a grandmother.
