Wow, this is the kind of mistake that lives in infamy. Someone definitely had a rough day at work.
This is the type of blunder that you would think only happens in someone’s worst nightmare. Unfortunately, it played out in reality, and it left viewers in utter disbelief.
When it comes to watching solar eclipses, there’s always an emphasis on safety—using the right equipment and never staring directly at it without proper eye protection.
However, no one expected this kind of protection to be needed for what they ended up seeing.
Viewers of a Mexican news channel got far more than they bargained for during their coverage of the solar eclipse earlier this year.
It wasn’t the celestial spectacle that made them look away in shock.
Just like many other news outlets around the world, RCG Media had been covering the highly anticipated total solar eclipse on April 8.
Safe to say, they probably regret that decision now.
For those unfamiliar, a total solar eclipse is a rare event where the Sun, Moon, and Earth align perfectly, but it can only be fully seen from the "path of totality."
This path determines where people can experience the full eclipse.
During this particular eclipse, the path of totality started out in the Pacific Ocean.
It then made its way across Mexico, continued northeast through the United States, and finally exited into the North Atlantic after passing over Canada.
Given their location, the Mexican news station had the privilege of being among the first to witness and report on this incredible natural phenomenon.
However, an unfortunate mistake on air ensured that the Sun and Moon weren’t the only round objects making headlines that day.
As part of their coverage, the station had invited viewers to submit their own footage of the solar eclipse.
But somehow, during the broadcast, they accidentally aired a clip that included a pair of testicles.
The clip made it to live television, shocking viewers and the presenters alike.
Thankfully, the producers managed to cut away from the clip relatively quickly.
But by the time they did, the damage was already done, and the moment had gone viral.
The video itself started innocently enough, focusing on a bright light in the frame.
However, moments later, a pair of testicles dropped into view, completely obstructing the light.
The presenters on the show were visibly stunned by the unexpected footage.
They scrambled to recover from the embarrassing incident, trying to move on as quickly as possible.
As the clip spread across social media, people didn’t hold back their reactions, with countless comments and memes being shared about the incident.
One commenter quipped: "Solar eclipse vs testicles, come on, it's a simple mistake. It can happen to anybody."
The jokes didn’t stop there, as someone else wrote: "Somebody really dropped the ball on this one."
A third person shared their thoughts, highlighting the chaotic nature of the mistake: "Having worked in media my entire life - I can only imagine how much screaming there was in the locker room."
Another user chimed in with this observation: "This is the most elaborate 'DEEZ NUTS' joke I've ever seen."
And yet another added: "They broadcasted the egglipse."
