Jack Wilson was a volunteer security guard at a church when he saw a would-be mass shooter making his way towards the front of the sanctuary. Wilson, 71, however, was quick to act and in a single shot eliminated the threat before further lives could be lost.

A jogger named Kelly Herron from Seattle fought off her would-be rapist when he accosted her in a public restroom. Her fitness tracker marked her entire route which she later put on a t-shirt along with the words she screamed as she tried to get away from him
Juliane Koepcke
Juliane Koepcke has a story one would read in an adventure novel. In 1971, when she was only a teenager, she was the only survivor of a plane crash that landed in the Amazon Rainforest. She fell 3,000 meters, still strapped into the airplane seat, and spent 11 days in the jungle before being rescued. She is 66 years old today.
John Thompson
John Thompson was alone at his farm in North Dakota when he had a harrowing farm accident in 1992. With both of his arms severed, he was able to make a call for help using a pencil that he was holding in his mouth. Doctors, fortunately, were able to reattach both his arms. He was only 18 at the time.
Aitzaz Hasan Bangash
Aitzaz Hasan Bangash was a schoolboy in Pakistan who was martyred in 2014. He was trying to prevent a suicide bomber from entering his school where 2,000 children were in attendance. The school was later named after him and he was posthumously given the Sitara-e-Shujaat (Star of Bravery) for his actions. He was only 16.

Noah Woods
Noah Woods was only 5 when he when his house caught on fire. He was quick to act and saved his 2-year-old sister. Once his sister was safe, he ran back to get the family dog. Fortunately, Noah suffered minor burns and is doing alright as well. He is now an honorary firefighter.
Sophie Scholl
Sophie Scholl was an anti-nazi student activist who dared speak against Hitler in Nazi Germany. She was later executed for her activism at the young age of 21. Her last words were, “Such a fine, sunny day, and I have to go... What does my death matter, if through us, thousands of people are awakened and stirred to action?”
