Imagine having to pay for a selfie – it sounds pretty out there, right?
Especially when we're all snapping pictures of ourselves for free with just a tap on our phones.
It would have to be something truly special to make it worth opening your wallet for.
Perhaps a snapshot with your favorite star, or in front of a famous landmark?
But what about posing with a giant cup? Yes, you read that right—a cup from which you drink.
It might seem like a peculiar thing to spend money on, but we're not talking about just any cup here.
This is about the coveted pink Starbucks Stanley cup.
At this point, you're likely to be divided into one of two camps: those scratching their heads at the thought of spending hard-earned money on a photo with a cup, and those who get the hype and are all in on the idea.
A TikTok user known as @e4stsidem4rios found herself puzzled by this very concept when she stumbled upon an advertisement on Facebook Marketplace offering selfies with the said cup.
"Can somebody tell me why someone is selling selfies with their pink Starbucks Stanley on Facebook?" she questioned, sharing her discovery with the TikTok community.
The advertisement priced each selfie at $5, stating, "I have a pink Stanley Cup available for photo shoot. Selfies with it are $5 and I can meet at the mall during the day."
The most surprising part of the ad was the seller's claim of being "literally booked up all afternoon on Wednesday," hinting at a surprisingly high demand for this unique photo opportunity.
While the TikToker who shared the ad seemed less than impressed, some of the reactions in the comments section showed a mix of amusement and genuine interest.
"Okay no one schedule for friday because I will be doing MY photoshoot that day," commented one user.
While another expressed their enthusiasm for the quirky idea, saying, "PLS I WANNA DO IT JUST FOR SH**S AND GIGGLES."
For those intrigued by the idea of taking a selfie with this iconic Stanley cup, the deal featured in the video seems relatively reasonable.
Earlier in January, a Facebook post offered selfies with a pink Stanley cup for $10 each, with the caption promising:
"If you couldn't buy one, now is your chance to take some cool pictures."
The frenzy over Stanley cups has been ongoing, with the desire for them reaching new heights after the launch of the 'Winter Pink' tumbler, a collaboration between the brand and Starbucks, on January 3rd.
With customers facing restrictions on how many cups they could purchase and the items selling out swiftly, many were left cup-less.
This left some fans with no choice but to either walk away empty-handed or, as seen in these instances, pay for a photograph with one instead.
