15 years ago, Steve Irwin died in a tragic accident while filming a nature documentary and at that time Robert was only 2.
Even though Robert never got to spend much time with his dad, still, the legendary conservationist has clearly had a significant impact on his son's life.
Robert has never once forgotten his father and the impact he had on his life. He often shares his pictures and is carrying on his legacy.
On Tuesday, Robert Irwin shared a beautiful video of himself with his father while celebrating his 17th birthday
'Our lovely Australia Zoo crew made this beautiful video to celebrate my birthday, and it means the world to me,' Robert wrote, adding a red love heart emoji.
'I am beyond honored to continue my dad's legacy and I hope more than anything that he would be proud.'
Robert also thanked everyone for their warm wishes
He added: 'I want to thank you for all of your lovely birthday messages and thanks to all who joined us for the celebrations at Australia Zoo today.'
'Looking forward to seeing what this next year brings, in the last year of my childhood!'
The video will surely bring tears to anyone's eyes
The video started with Steve excitedly telling the crew about Robert's birth on December 1, 2003, saying: 'At that very moment, I saw the light.'
It then shows young Robert playing with animals while Steve provides the voice-over using clips from old TV shows.
Steve Irwin says in the video how he wants his kids to carry on his legacy of conservation.
'When Bindi was born, I had the same sensation now with little Bob... it's like this is why I was put here because I could be dead tomorrow,' he says.
He said his little boy will catch crocs one day with his sister Bindi.
'So I need these blokes to come up as quick as they can. This little bloke's going to have to catch the crocs with Bindi!'
In the clip, Steve says that his ultimate goal will be achieved when his kids will be ready to run up their mission
'When they're ready to run up our mission, I will gladly step aside. Then and only then will I know that I achieved my ultimate goal.'
'And my job will be done, and I guarantee you, it will be the proudest moment of my life.'
Steve's family hasn't stopped his conservation work at the Australian Zoo and they plan to continue his mission
Sadly, everybody's favorite Steve Irwin died two years later on September 4, 2006, after being attacked by a stingray barb while he was filming a nature documentary.
