After she took away his Nintendo Switch, a student viciously beat his teacher and threatened to "kill" her.
The teen has been charged with felony aggravated battery with physical harm; his identity will not be released because he is a minor.
The horrifying event happened at Matanzas High School in Palm Coast, Florida, on Tuesday (February 21).
The teacher, who turns and hesitates briefly before being knocked to the ground in a video released by the Flagler County Sheriff's Office, is seen being pursued by the 17-year-old.
The student continues to hit the school employee more than a dozen times on the head and torso before she faceplants in responseless shock.
It takes several students and staff members 25 seconds to remove him from the teacher after the attack.
The student reportedly said, "I'm going to kill her," after the attack and spat in the teacher's direction, according to the arrest report.
A statement from the Sheriff's Office said: "The student stated that he was upset because the victim took his Nintendo Switch away from him during class.”
"The actions of these students are absolutely horrendous and completely uncalled for.”
"We hope the victim will recover, both mentally and physically, from this incident."
Superintendent Cathy Mittelstadt added: "Creating a safe learning and working environment on our campuses is critical.”
"Violence is never an appropriate reaction."
The teacher was injured but is anticipated to recover after being taken to a nearby hospital in a hurry.
The Bureau of Juvenile Justice received the 17-year-old.
After the event, representatives of Volusia County School released the following statement: "The safety and security of our students and staff are of utmost importance to us and we will continue to cooperate fully with the local authorities as part of this investigation."
