Student Was Forced By Teacher To Answer Call On Speaker In Class And Instantly Regrets It

Professor Stephen Barrows, an economics professor at Aquinas College, doesn’t like cell phones and has a special classroom policy, if your phone rings in class, you have to answer it on speaker.

The clip begins with Barrow telling student Taylor Nefcy to answer her ringing phone, reminding her, "You have to answer it!"

She does as he requests, and the person on the other line begins to talk.

Here's what the class heard:

"Hello, is this Ms.Nefcy?"

"Hi, this is Kevin from the Pregnancy Resource Center."

Per your request, I am calling to inform you that the test results have come back positive.

Congratulations!

Barrow clearly looking concerned at this point.

"Okay! You might want to shut down," said Barrow.

"There is no need to worry," the caller says.

"I know you told us the father is no longer in the picture, but we will be in contact with you throughout this whole process, so don't worry about anything."

"We provide counseling and other maternity services at no charge."

As the call ends, Barrow states that he'd like to publicly apologize to his student.

Nefcy hangs up the phone and takes a second to explain herself.

"That's okay," Nefcy responds."I've been expecting this and I already know what I'm going to name the baby."

"The first name will be April, and the middle name will be Fools," she teases as the class bursts out laughing.
