Just one day after Twitter user, Joey Barges went to work in a dress to fight the heat wave hitting the UK and to fight back management who sent him home for wearing shorts, a groups of teens in the UK are fighting their school’s dress code and showed up to class in skirts to fight the heat wave. The group of boys who go to Isca Academy in Exeter were told by their headmaster that despite the heat wave, the dress code still stands and boy’s can’t wear shorts to school. Like Barges, these boys are trying to change an absurd dress code. While there’s been no word on the school’s reaction to the protests, Twitter users are all for it:
Students Fight School Rules By Showing Up To School In Skirts

These British schoolboys are literally skirting the rules.
On Wednesday, a group of male students at Isca Academy in Exeter, UK, weren’t allowed to wear shorts despite the heat wave sweeping Europe. So instead, they showed up to school in plaid skirts to protest the academy’s uniform policy.

The move comes after the school banned boys from wearing shorts despite the hot weather.
A small number of boys started the protest on Wednesday where one was reportedly told to change his skirt because it was too short, and another because his legs were too hairy.

“We’re not allowed to wear shorts, and I’m not sitting in trousers all day,” one of the teenage protesters told BBC. “It’s a bit hot.”
The academy’s uniform guidelines state that boys are only allowed to wear trousers, while female students can wear pants or tartan skirts. The protesting boys donned uniforms typically worn by the girls.

A mom who has a 14-year-old son at ISCA College said: "My son wanted to wear shorts but was told he would be put in the isolation room for the rest of the week."
The head teacher told them “Well you can wear a skirt if you like” but I think she was being sarcastic.
However, children tend to take you literally and so five boys turned up in skirts today and because she told them it was ok there was nothing she could do as long as they are school skirts.
One of the five boys did get in trouble because it was too short. The Exeter mom said that children should have a voice, no matter how old they are.

Although the school’s headteacher, Aimee Mitchell, suggested the protest to students as a way to change the rules, she told BBC, “Shorts are not currently part of our uniform for boys and I would not want to make any changes without consulting both students and their families.”
The male pupils’ show of defiance has gone viral on social media.
“Fair play to the lads!” one user wrote on Twitter. “Certainly getting the publicity they deserve to overturn an absurd uniform rule.”

This former Exeter student couldn't be prouder of the boys.
In an update to the boy's story, Exeter school has decided to relax the rules for the next academic year.
The school said in an update on its site on Friday: "Shorts are not currently part of our school uniform for boys. Contrary to news reports, we have not banned shorts; shorts are simply not part of our school uniform.
"However, as summers are becoming hotter, shorts will be introduced as part of our school uniform next year having first consulted with students and parents. We feel that introducing a change in uniform part way through this year would put undue pressure on some of our families."

In the end, it looks like the boy's bold actions have prompted some real change at their school. Bravo boys!
