Suri Cruise was spotted hauling a navy-blue backpack through New York City on Tuesday while listening to large wireless headphones.
Suri, the daughter of Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise, celebrated her 18th birthday on April 18, marking her legal transition into adulthood.
She was casually dressed in a red-striped, short-sleeved Henley top paired with grey sweatpants, and rounded off her look with off-white Converse 'Chuck Taylors.'
Over one arm, she carried a blue jean jacket, adding a touch of style to her laid-back ensemble.
As she nears the end of her high school journey, Suri is just weeks away from graduation.
Recently, she made a notable appearance in her school's production of The Go-Go’s jukebox musical, "Head Over Heels."
According to a report last Thursday by Hello! Magazine, Suri chose to introduce herself in the playbill under a new name, opting for 'Suri Noelle' instead of her full name.
This choice reflects her close connection to her mother, Katie, who is 45, and distances her from her estranged father, Tom, who is now 61.
In the musical, Suri took on the role of Princess Philoclea, a character first brought to life by Alexandra Socha in the Broadway run of the show from 2018 to 2019 at the Hudson Theatre in Manhattan.
Suri's singing talents were previously showcased when she covered the 1934 classic "Blue Moon" by Richard Rodgers and Lorenz Hart.
This song was featured in "Alone Together," the second movie directed by her mother, Katie.
In a 2022 interview with Yahoo! Entertainment, Holmes praised her daughter’s capabilities.
"Well, I always want the highest level of talent, so I asked her," Holmes shared.
She continued: "She's very talented. She said she would do it and she recorded it, and I let her do her thing. That's the way I direct in general.
"It's like, 'This is what I think we all want and then go do your thing.'"
Suri was only six years old when her parents, Katie and Tom, divorced in 2012 after six years of marriage.
As part of their agreement, Tom Cruise paid a total of $4.8 million in child support.
Additionally, he agreed to cover Suri's college tuition, "extracurricular costs," and her medical, dental, and insurance expenses, as reported by TMZ.
Despite Tom's fame and efforts, if he tried to reach out to Suri, "she would not answer," according to a source who spoke to DailyMail.com on April 18.
"He does not exist to Katie or Suri, and his daughter does not want to rely on him for anything," the source added, emphasizing, "She feels that she has one parent and that is her mother."
Speculation around Tom’s estrangement from his daughter suggests it may be linked to Suri and Katie's decision to distance themselves from the Church of Scientology.
Followers of the church reportedly do not associate with SPs (suppressive people).
Tom Cruise also has two adult children, Isabella Jane Cruise, 31, and Connor Antony Cruise, 29, from his previous marriage to Nicole Kidman, which ended in 2001.
