Tearful Moment: Boy Born Without Arms Or Legs Takes First Steps
Katie Whiddon and her boyfriend broke down in tears after they watched their 4-year-old son walk for the first time.
During the emotional video, both Greene and Camden are ecstatic because he’s "walking like Nick," referring to motivational speaker and author Nick Vujicic who was born with a similar syndrome as Camden.
Denton, Texas, was born with phocomelia syndrome and Amelia.
Phocomelia is a condition that involves malformations of the arms and legs. Although many factors can cause phocomelia, the prominent roots come from the use of the drug thalidomide and from genetic inheritance. Occurrence in an individual result in various abnormalities to the face, limbs, ears, nose, vessels and many others under development. Although operations may improve some abnormalities, many are not surgically treatable due to the lack of nerves and other related structures.
Camden has no legs, and his arms end at around where the elbow would be.
Camden was going to prove to be an extremely brave, strong, and inspiring little boy.
Camden is seen standing in front of Whiddon’s boyfriend, Cole Greene;
Greene encourages the adorable little boy as his sister cheers him on in the background.
"I’m coming to you!" Camden says excitedly. "I’m walking!"
Camden’s incredible feat was filmed and posted on Facebook.
It has since been viewed and shared thousands of times.
There’s no doubt the Camden is destined for greatness.
