An arrest has been made after a teddy bear believed to have been made with human skin was found
The mystery surrounding a disturbing teddy bear that many believed was made from human skin has finally been cleared up—and the truth is just as bizarre as the rumor itself.
Authorities were alerted to the strange and creepy-looking stuffed bear a little after noon on Sunday, July 13. The discovery caused quite a stir among locals and sparked fear online, with some people jumping to conclusions that a serial killer might be behind it all.
The bear was discovered right outside an AMPM convenience store attached to a gas station on Bear Valley Road in Victorville, California. That area is located about an hour northeast of Los Angeles.
According to a statement from the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department, the coroner’s division was informed at exactly 12:32 p.m. that same day about a suspicious-looking doll that might have been made out of human skin.

After investigating the scene, a deputy coroner determined that the creepy-looking doll wasn’t made of human materials after all. Instead, it was confirmed to be made from synthetic fabric and definitely not human in origin.
"The doll was brought to the San Bernardino Coroner's facility," the department shared in its official statement. The very next day, a forensic expert verified what they found on-site.
"Forensic Pathologist, Dr. M. Phan-Tang, confirmed that the object was not human and contained no human tissue."
"Our investigation found these dolls being sold on a website with the claim that the dolls are 'made of human skin'," the coroner's office concluded after doing a deeper check into where the bear might have come from.

Following the wild chain of events, an arrest was made in connection to what now appears to have been a prank that escalated way too far. The incident led police to tape off the store and treat the situation like a serious crime scene while they bagged the bear for further analysis.
The man arrested was identified as 23-year-old Hector Corona Villanueva, a resident of Victorville. He was charged with knowingly making a false emergency report and planting fake evidence to make it appear real, which caused unnecessary panic and response from law enforcement.
"Incidents such as this take up valuable emergency resources and put the public at risk, possibly delaying response time to legitimate calls for service," the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department noted in its public release.

"We would like to thank those that reported information that was helpful during the investigation of this case."
It’s believed the bear was bought on Etsy for $165. The artist who created it couldn’t believe the chaos that followed. He later shared a Facebook post expressing his shock at the situation.
Robert Kelly, who runs a horror-themed prop company called 'Dark Seed Creations', wrote: "I can't make this sh*t up! One of my skin teddy bears has apparently been involved in a prank that brought police attention! This is f**king wild!"
