An 18-year-old girl has completely cut ties with her adoptive parents after they showed up late to her high school graduation. And the reason? They were off buying a ‘rare’ Labubu doll for her younger sister instead.

The Labubu — yes, that fuzzy, kind of creepy-looking creature has totally taken over social media. Both kids and grown-ups are going wild trying to find one.

In just the past month alone, there have been more than 48 million Google searches for Labubu. Even “Labubu fake” searches hit nearly half a million. So yeah, it’s a big deal, but was it really worth skipping your daughter’s big day?

Labubu’s popularity has skyrocketed since it first launched six years ago through a collaboration with Chinese toy brand Pop Mart. But now, the obsession seems to be creating real drama at home too.

Sharing her story anonymously on Reddit, an 18-year-old said she has officially cut contact with her adoptive parents. Why? Because instead of showing up for one of the biggest moments of her life — her graduation — they were busy buying a Labubu doll for their younger, biological daughter.

The teenager went on to explain that her parents had struggled with infertility for years, which led them to adopt her as a baby. Then, eight years later, they had a biological daughter they called their 'miracle baby.' That child, now 10, is named Princess.

"Princess was spoiled and clearly the favorite. She never got in trouble, was always right, got WHATEVER she wanted and acted HOWEVER she wanted." the teen shared on Reddit.

"Now I have a car and a boyfriend (since sophomore year). I stay with him a lot and his family loves me so I'm barely home, maybe 24 hours at most weekly. My parents didn't care and this was my normal so I stopped caring too."

It became painfully clear just how deep that favoritism ran on her graduation day. Instead of being there to cheer her on, her parents were off indulging Princess’s latest obsession with a toy.

She continued: "See her current obsession are these doll plush keychains called Labubus, she collects them and that specific day, she found this super rare one for sale in our city."

"Now instead of contacting the seller and buying it the next day, my parents went to go get it."

Because they made that choice, the parents missed a significant portion of the ceremony, leaving their older daughter crushed. It was supposed to be her day, but their absence made it anything but special.

To make things worse, they spent a whopping $350 on that Labubu doll, while her graduation gift only cost $150. That price difference alone stung more than they probably realized.

The teen added: "I was hurt. After graduation, I ignored them and went home with my boyfriend. I've basically moved in with him at this point since anytime I went back 'home' it was to get my things to go back."

"My parents called, texted, apologized, even came over and begged me to forgive them, worst part of it all, they think it's the money and sent me another hundred dollars. I refused to talk to them."

So it begs the question, was getting that Labubu really more important than being there for their daughter’s graduation?
