The woman wants her fellow Redditors to tell her if she is overreacting to the entire situation

The author then updated the readers with how her husband got involved

The frustrated woman also further discussed the situation with the readers in the comment section

Redditors showed their full support to the woman and validated her feelings. Though the neice is only 16, the readers think she is old enough to know when the prank is funny and when it crosses the line and gets far from harmless. 

We believe the woman was right to ask for the money back but we also think taking things to court would be very expensive and complicated, especially when the other party is your family member. In this case, the crime was done by a teenager hence the parents would be the one facing the consequences. Instead of taking the girl to the courts, making her pay by doing a job and selling her car as a punishment would really teach her that her actions have consequences. But still, even this, would not bring back the precious coat her aunt owned.
