#3 Two Years Later, As Prom Night Approached, The Memories Had Been Flooding Back

Traditionally, the father of the daughter takes pictures with her on the special night and escorts her to the prom. It is every father's dream to see his daughter in a pretty gown and take pictures before seeing her off on her big night. But Aleena wouldn't have that opportunity.

That's when Teresa Kondek, Aleena's mom, came up with a brilliant and touching plan that was nothing short of brilliant! She went behind her daughters back, in secret, and enlisted all of Charlies 'brothers' from the Tarpon Springs Police Department to surprise her daughter on her big night.

#5 Aleena Was Shocked When She Got Off The Prom Bus To Find Police Officers Waiting To Escort Her To The Event

As soon as Aleena stepped off the bus in front of the dance, officers proudly stepped in and took the place of her father. "Sad because we have to be here," said Major Jeff Young. "Honored because we can be here."

#6 Aleena Was Thrilled And Knew That Her Father Would Be Looking Down On Her And His Friends Proudly

She said that she was thankful for the officers, who she added text her every day to check up on her, playing the role of the father as best they can. They step in at times her father would have been there for her and her mother, and she says she loves each and every one of them. "They're amazing," she said as they lined up, hugged her, and wished her luck as she headed into the ballroom.

#7 She Remembers Her Father Fondly

And she says she will never forget him and how great a man he was, and how he loved to serve his community. She says she is thankful that the Tarpon Springs Police Department, and the town, has her family in their thoughts and have not forgotten his senseless killing. "They always say, ‘never forgotten,' and I totally believe that," she said.
